Virgil Everett Lynch was born in Missouri in 1884 and grew up to be a famous trapper, writer, and wilderness guide. He operated a hunting camp in Machias, Maine, where his prowess as an expert bobcat hunter and trapper earned him the nickname Wildcat. Lynch wrote scores of articles about his adventures in many publications such as Hunter-Trader-Trapper, FUR-FISH-GAME, and National Sportsman from the 1920s through the 1950s.
